Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress, is known for her roles in film and television since the late 1980s. She has received various awards, including the Golden Globe Award and sixteen NAACP Image Awards. Since the mid 80s she has been working on film and television. The actress has won several awards, among them sixteen NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was raised in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by her aunt and Uncle in New York New York. Bassett moved with her sister to St. Petersburg Florida at the age of five to be near their mother and father, who had separated from their dad. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play while she was still in high school, and realised that acting is what she was looking to pursue. Yale University New Haven Connecticut gave her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and a graduate degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. They married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree of African American studies, in the year 1980.
